Turtle post

On Thursday, the kids and I were headed out when we spotted our neighbor's errant female pheasant walking on the road. She's impossible to catch so we just looked at her a minute.
And just past her was this young snapping turtle! I grabbed one of my reusable grocery bags to catch him and we put him in our turtle habitat. He later, like the previous box turtles, escaped. Rats.


So this segues into this picture of a mud turtle we saw last August. According to my friend Jennifer's dad, who is a biologist, she was probably out laying eggs. She was very, very cool to see!
