Two-week weekly wrapup

I'm going to include all of our field trips from our trip to South Carolina two weeks ago in this week's homeschool wrapup! It's probably cheating.
There were our field trips to: the Camden Training Center, The Reptile Show and Nancy's farm.
Once home, Hayes continued her 50 State Fridays by learning about Ohio, Maine and Florida. She reviewed some multiplication and we started our world history by learning about pre-civilization (although I have a problem with this term) and the Egyptians. I read "The Well Trained Mind" while in SC and think, for my own sanity, it is a good outline for me to follow.
We bought five hens and a rooster from the neighbors plus we have two chicks from Nancy's so Hayes has taken on this new project. It went well with our Outdoor Nature Hour study this week on bluebirds and blue jays. We actually have four bluebird eggs in the nestbox!
Also part of the Outdoor Nature Hour was our study on violets and dandelions.
Hayes started soccer this week then she had 4-H in which she had to balance a plastic egg on a spoon while on horseback and drop it in a bucket! In between all this, we did community service: we herded a lone calf back into the pasture from which it had escaped ... twice!

There's no such thing as cheating in homeschooling- it's adaptable. :)

All of your field trips sound like good learning fun!

I love TWTM as a guide...I can't follow it to the letter or it's overwhelming, but it makes a great guide for how I want our school experience to look.

Sounds like you had a fun-filled two weeks of non-traditonal learning. Those are the best!
