Saving Sophie

I am so blog-obsessed that everything I do and everywhere I go, I think,"Ooo, that would be good for the blog." So I was a little peeved that Alex missed this photo op two days ago.
Our creek was partially frozen then and the dogs and cats were walking all over it while we were above on our property taking inventory of storm damage. We heard a big "CRACK" and Sophie Too Much, our 10 year old 50 pound beagle, had fallen through the ice. She was struggling to get out, starting to cry and we were just watching from our spot on the ridge. Sophie cares less that we're around. We are only here to give her food, in her opinion.
So while Alex was quickly contemplating how fast he could get home and back to put Sophie out of her misery, I volunteered to traverse the ice since I had my rain boots on. We'd just watched Bear Grylls on "Man v. Wild" scoot across a frozen pond to keep from falling in and I was thinking how useful that information was right now. But I got to Sophie and was able to lift her big ol' self out and all of us went on our merry way.
Sophie came inside to dry off and continue ignoring us.
Missed photo op. You shoulda seen it.
