After our homeschool Wonder of Science program this past Monday, I'm totally in awe of the moms who put it together. The kids had three stations in which to learn about music and sound. Most of the pictures are of Chooj since I was with him through the stations, but I did sneak in to see how Hayes was enjoying her part of the class.
There were demonstrations on how sound travels, how it's made, pitch, frequency. I was interested in the range in which different animals hear:
These water glasses were tuned perfectly and someone played a tune on them. How cool is that?!
Making drops in the water showed sound waves.
Children were encouraged to roll one croquet ball gently enough to hit the line and make the last ball move. This is how sound travels.
Chooj used the balloons for other than their intent, which was to demonstrate vibration.
