A cold day but we still headed out for the monthly tree walk at the neighboring county's arboretum. I do not know my trees and learned a couple on the walk.
Here is a sassafrass:
There were a few persimmons. We were told not to eat them before a frost. Something about a chemical in the skin tastes unpalatable until that freeze.
Hayes was enchanted by this winter holly. I imagine it's quite the beauty in dead winter covered by snow with those red berries standing out.
