After we arrived on the Rosebud Reservation and met up with family, Alex took us out to his grandparents' property and where they are buried in the adjoining cemetery.
If I remember correctly, this is a 160 acre parcel and only a couple of buildings standing. The original house was moved but I took a picture of Alex and Chooj standing where it used to be. Lots of birds were flying in and out of the buildings so we looked around inside and saw a bunch of nests.
Hayes took it upon herself to clean up her Uncle Buzzy's gravesite and afterwards we collected sage from around the cemetery.
We stopped by the Catholic church his grandparents attended and were disappointed we couldn't go in to see the Lakota Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Alex drove us down to White River where they all used to play during the summers they visited. Again, I had to take pictures of all the nests made under the bridge.
We collected water from the river to bring home and add to our collection on the shelf.
