Serpent Mound Singing Circle

Two of Ohio's Women Singing in Sacred Circle groups converged on Serpent Mound this past weekend. I just love singing circle because of all the women involved.
One of the groups had a retreat over the weekend and made a mandala. So we chanted a song and played drums and shakers on the way to the river to release it (encountering kids yelling,"I hear Indians!" Big eye roll.) I led the women in a Brooke Medicine Eagle water song - so appropriate standing there next to the river!
As we traipsed back through waist high stinging nettle, I grabbed jewelweed just in case someone found some poison ivy too.
So we sang then enjoyed food and stories!
Earlier, I took a quick tour of the museum and later walked the Serpent Mound. Since I'm from South Carolina where there are many mounds, I'm amazed at the ability for people to have constructed these. And THEN for someone who happen upon it and preserve it.
You can't see the head of the serpent - it is surmized the mouth is open to eat an egg ... or a frog hopping away.
Here you can see the end coil. This was not a burial mound but there were several nearby.
