The farm is in full swing meaning we have less time for anything else. There's mowing to be done, gardens to plant and weed, new transplants to be watered, plus bigger projects like reshingling the horses' run-in shed and continuing building the back deck.
Just today though, we'll grant you some snapshots into what's going on around here.
The stupid chickens. Fortunately, we think the dogs killed all the rooster chicks so we're left with four young hens that should start laying soon. We have one laying hen now and we hope she's going broody so we could have babies this month. There's the stupid rooster right in the middle - what a hack he is. Not much of a rooster, if you ask me. We have the sweetest chicken a friend brought us and she's the one destined for a pot soon because she'll get too big to walk. Sad, really. And the kids' ducks are growing bigger.
Hey, Spellbound! You pretty old girl.
These are cloudless sulfurs. They gather in a group to taste the remnants of water in the pasture.
Today the kids painted with letter stamps. Of course, Hayes gets her hands and feet all in it
and Chooj can't stand to get any kind of messy so he was content to wash the paint off all the stamps. Marble painting was more his speed and they produced some pretty pictures. Here's one of Hayes':
Chooj made this runway for his plane with all the change dumped out of his piggy bank:
