All of our mowing equipment has been broken so everything was at least knee high around here with all the rain we've been getting. During the weekend, Alex and the kids went yard-saling and found not only a push mower, but a riding lawnmower too. Sa-WEET! So I rode that bad boy some of Saturday and for almost three hours Sunday and we are happy to say that all of our seven acres is cut! Near the top of this picture (which is the very back of our property - it kind of runs like a rectangle) you can barely see our creek.
While I cut, the kids found a small mud puddle and looked like elephants lolling around in it ... until Chooj got cold and Alex had to take them back to the house and hose them off.
While I cut, Alex fenced the back so the horses have access to the really good grass.
Previously, Friday night, during a heavy storm, we watched our creek rise and rise until it was even with the land. That's a little nerve-wracking. Alex, Hayes and Chooj walked down to the bridge just past the bottom of our property to see all the debris coming through. Usually the water just slightly flows so this is pretty amazing to see it level with the bridge.
Our neighbors up the road lost a son/brother at this bridge many years ago when it flooded. Our neighbors tell me it floods worse now with this new bridge.

"The little mud children of Borneo; sweet, gentle, creatures, who are happiest with dried bits of earth hanging from them." Priceless pics!
