I went out of town then all of us got sick and so here's the catchup from the yearly stockup:
Week 12: Stock up on herbs. Dry your own for two weeks and put them away. We use lots of rosemary, basil and oregano. Dill, mint and parsley are good too.
Week 13: Rice. You can grow your own rice in a wading pool! This is something I really want to try. Get unhulled rice seeds (from a health store or feed store) and soak 1/2 to 2 cups of seed for 36 hours. Let it dry a day. Put about six inches of potting soil in the pool and cover it with four inches of warm water. Sprinkle the seeds over the water - they'll sink, but eventually grow. When the rice stalks turn brown and begin to bend, empty the water from the pool and let the rice plants dry one to two weeks. When the plants are completely brown, it's ready for harvet. Remove the outer husk. Remember to save seeds for another planting.
Week 14: Stock up on more first aid. Really, you can never have enough. I have the book "When There's No Doctor" in my first aid kit. I downloaded it for free from the internet.
Week 15: Pasta. There are lots of varieties and shapes of pasta. We love pasta in our house! We even have made our own spaghetti and lasagna noodles and there's no comparing the taste! I wish I weren't so lazy to do this more often.
All these tips come from Tenzicut at Down to the Roots.

I have a copy of "Donde No Hay Doctor" I bought on my first trip to Guatemala. It's an indispensible book! Since my copy is in Spanish, I hope I'm not the one that needs the emergency care...
