Outdoor Nature Hour: robin, cardinal & house finch
Last week's challenge had us studying robins, cardinals and house finches. And, as if planned, a robin hopped into our yard as Hayes was completing her study so we were able to observe him hopping about.
We are really glad for this study. Hayes was out last week drawing and observing birds on her own. We have a feeder near the kitchen window and, when Hank the pony doesn't devour the birdseed, we have plenty of feathered friends to watch.
Even this weekend, a pair of pileated woodpeckers flew through the yard, presumably looking for a nice nesting tree.

Perfect timing for Mr. Robin to come a callin'. They always make me smile with the funny way they hope around on the grass and cock their heads to one side.
Great entry and journal too!

We saw a robin pulling a worm out of the ground after the rain a few days ago! We couldn't decide who to root for...the worm or the robin!
