After two and a half weeks in training, Hank has come home to hang out in the pasture with Spellbound and Gracie.
Hayes bought Hank last year and he has always had a bit of a jiggy gait. Enough to make her (ok, ok, ME!) a little uncomfortable. So we sent him to Texas Star Stables to get a few miles put on him. Now he stands when being mounted and doesn't go off on his jiggy gait immediately.

Scotty, the trainer, has watched the last two days while Hayes walked Hank around the arena. Today they took a bit of trail ride.

When Hank stepped up a bit to his jig, Hayes got a little nervous and dismounted to walk a bit before getting back on. I decided there was nothing more to be done with him. He is about 17 after all and we just have to be committed to keeping him ridden down or lunged. Scotty did take Hank off his grain and that made a huge difference in Hank's demeanor. Scotty compared it to a kid drinking Mountain Dew.
Since it is an ultra gorgeous day, the kids and I earlier walked The Girls to the back pasture for just a bit.

We took a look at the creek, scoping out "swimming holes" for summer.

I don't know what it is about Chooj. It is 70 degrees today but he insisted on having a winter cap and gloves on. Who is that cartoon character who wears the ski hat all the time?

This is Chooj later on, when he'd exchanged the hat and mittens for sunglasses:

I had plans for homeschool art yesterday. It went totally out the window and instead Chooj had himself some water play fun.

And that kid likes to cook too. Here he is helping Alex make pizza dough over the weekend.

Here's another shot of Hayes and Hank at last week's 4-H meeting where everyone worked on ground manners.

And thus it is only Tuesday.

Thanks for visiting! Your blog is very interesting! The pantry stock up thing is cool. This is something I try to do, but very haphazardly and often find myself throwing away stuff that expired before I used it.
Do you guys name your farms yourself? I want to name our mini-farm, but can't think of anything. Wondering where you get the ideas for names if you do it yourself.
