Hayes walked in just after noon and said,"It's finally happened." She looked up to see our 2 year old Dacshund mix, Cherish, get run over by a cement truck. Not wanting Cherish to get hit again, Hayes ran out to the road and carried the poor thing to the porch.
She cried over Cherish, that she'd burrow under Hayes' blankets, stealing them in fact, and that helped her sleep, Hayes said.
Cherish kept my feet warm at night by burrowing under my covers and allowed me to stick my cold toes under her.
We've had her less than a year. We asked our former neighbors for her when we lived in an apartment building. They kept her on the patio 24/7 and we figured it was no life for a dog. She was a great addition to our family and much loved by the children.
She will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to read about Cherish! This has been a bad year for the pets in your house. I cry with you....XO Aunt Melinda
