We took to the back pasture today to study bluebells. We have gobs of them and not only that, but land across the creek is just blue with them.
We took the horses too so they can mow down the grass a little bit then Hayes and Chooj played in the wild carrot. One time Hayes hid in a bunch and we didn't see her at all!
Bluebells, also known as Virginia cowslip, puccoon and gentlemen's breeches, are related to lungworts, which can be used as antidotes for lung ailments. I don't know about these though. They can be used as a dye.
Hayes noted that the bud color before opening is pink and we read that in our Fandex of wildflowers.
I also ad to include her pictures of a dandelion and its leaf, as well as the violet, from our study a few weeks ago.
