Weekly homeschool wrapup

I feel late in my reporting this week. It's been a doozy of a week.
Monday: We took the puppies, Reset and Smushy, to the vet for shots. Hayes worked on some graphing and multiplication practice. She and Chooj watched a "Magic School Bus" on dinosaurs then she went out for some creek exploration where she watched a crawfish snatch a fly on top of the water and scurry backwards into its hole to devour it. She found a few fossils and Chooj worked on color matching.

Tuesday: We did some measurement math as both helped prepare dinner in the crockpot. I had some kitchen utensil art planned but it didn't go as well as expected.

As Hayes moved on to painting the tack room and run-in shed, our 2-year-old Dachshund Cherish was run over and Hayes pulled her out of the road and carried her up to the porch. That was the end of schooling for the day.
Wednesday: Studied skunks for our Outdoor Nature Hour. Hayes wrote thank you notes for her birthday presents and completed a reading lesson and quizzes on Charles Lindbergh. She worked on spelling skills using the pocket chart.

Later she got on Spellbound for a walk to the back pasture and was able to stay on and canter home bareback without even any reins when Spell bolted for home. Whew!
Thursday: Took a field trip to see Unearthed Dinosaurs at the Cincy Museum.

Afterwards, Hayes and Chooj played in the Children's Museum, featuring an indoor tree house and water works. That alone was well worth the trip.

On her own, Hayes did some copy work from her new "Young Rider" magazine. Hmmm, why didn't I think of that?
Friday: Completed her 50 State Friday study on Colorado (the country's oldest carousel lives here) and New Mexico (the road runner is the state bird) while waiting on our new arrival, Gracie, a 22 year old Quarter horse mare.

Saturday: Hayes helped record and add the square footage of the flooring we'd like to put in the den.

Oh, I hope the dog is okay. How traumatic.

Love the pictures. It looks like you had a lot of fun, school-wise, this week.
