Yearly Pantry, week 5: first aid

When we moved to our 50 acres in Nowheresville, Tenn., I compiled a huge tackle box of first aid supplies and downloaded a copy of "Where There is No Doctor: a village health care handbook." I can't tell you where I found it - perhaps a Google search will bring it up. It's a 450 page document that I keep in my first aid kit, along with latex gloves, bandaids, peroxide, alcohol solution, Syrup of Ipecac, ledum (homeopathic treatment for tetanus) and general over the counter meds. I also have eye wash, burn spray, sunscreen, duct tape and sanitary pads should we need to stop heavy bleeding from a gash.
You should keep a small first aid kit in your car and if you have animals as I do, you should have a separate one for the critters. Vet wrap is useful for people and animals and requires no tape, plus it comes in lots of colors! Vet wrap is my main purchase for this week's challenge.
