Our week thus far

Hayes worked on contractions and odd/even numbers this week. She did a complicated maze of the Statue of Liberty so we talked about that and New York and also checked out state facts about Kentucky. We had our usual "it's been 2 weeks, let's go to the library" trip where we checked out 37 books, mostly for Hayes. Since yesterday, she's read six chapter books. Seriously.
So far we've noticed just one puppy has one eye open. Cherish is leaving them more and more and for longer and longer. She was off chasing deer this afternoon with Shadow and Ruffian.
Hayes took Hank to the back pasture for a treat where our neighbor's horses and donkey (E-O) neighed for him to come up and play. We took the time to investigate some animal scat on a fallen log and in the crook of a tree. It was way cool.
We transplanted seven cedar trees to our fence line last Sunday and have been hand watering all week. With it being in the 30s in the mornings, the horse trough usually has a sheet of ice on it so I'm carting out hot water for them. I feel like I'm back at Four Feathers Farm in Tennessee hauling water!
