The tractor's up and runnin'

Alex got the tractor going Sunday after changing the oil and fuel filter. So then he moved the rest of our gravel around our driveway. Our neighbor came at my request last week with his BIG OL' John Deere tractor and bucket and moved and spread half the gravel behind the house.

I had mowed some of the pasture with the push mower and it looks good. We also were forced to buy another weedwacker and Alex attacked my elderberry bushes while I squawked about it from the porch. The kids and I went to pick what we could of elderberries, but the birds had beated us to most of it so I think I maybe got a few tablespoons. I needed five cups in order to make my cough syrup. Guess those birds will stay healthy all winter.

We also almost finished the horses' run-in shed. A business in town casts off all its plywood used for shipping these beautiful copper bathtubs so we've gotten it all for free. We'll have to head back to Tennesse to get the shingles for it but it'll do for now.

Today the kids and I picked up glass in the back part of the pasture. It is never ending with the trash around here. What is up with people?? And tonight Alex and I hung a gate at the back side of the pasture so we can get through to mow. We let the horses roam on the "grass is always greener" side and had a hard time getting them to come back.
