Field trip: Floodwall: A Katrina Memorial
Friday we made a quick trip to see the Katrina memorial by Jana Napoli entitled "Floodwall." It was made entirely of drawers discarded after the hurricane with a large map showing where each drawer came from. You could write "a note to a drawer" and in the one I went to put my note in was a small drawer filled entirely with buttons. It was a little sobering to look at and we watched one of the documentaries just a bit, prompting me to ask Hayes,"What would you take if you had to leave your house?"
