Yesterday there was wind like you wouldn't believe. Our house sits on a permanent foundation but we were rockin'! Wind gusts were up to 80 miles an hour and it was gusty all day. The power was out most of the afternoon, leaving us, as homestead professionals, wondering how we were going to cook. All of our stuff is in Tennessee! So I made tuna salad on crackers. Power came back at 7 p.m. but I heard Louisville and most of southern Indiana are without. You know those folks are in a panic.
We lost only one tree - a healthy one that split right down the middle. The horses were pretty smart and stayed right in the middle of the pasture to avoid falling hickory nuts and limbs.
Alex's work was without power today so he drove in and came right back (70 miles all around) and he almost finished the fence at the front so the dogs are slowed in their attempts to chase the UPS guy and our mail lady down the road.
